Overview

Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, *Hosta* 'Swoosh' is a small variegated cultivar derived from the cross *H.* 'Yellow Splash' × *H.* 'Neat Splash'. It is visually distinctive for its green-margined leaves with a central variegation pattern, borne on a compact mound.

In the Garden

'Hosta' 'Swoosh' reaches a mature diameter of 13 inches (33.0 cm) and a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), making it suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or small shade beds. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated foliage remains stable. As a small hosta, it is well suited to container cultivation. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other small woodland perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even moisture, particularly during dry spells. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
