Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Deliverance' is a small hosta cultivar of complex parentage, derived from a cross of (*Hosta* 'Swoosh' × *Hosta longissima*) × *Hosta* 'Red Neck Heaven', pollinated by *Hosta* 'Elvis Lives'. It is visually distinctive for its intensely twisted, lance-shaped leaves that are medium blue-green with heavily rippled, gold margins measuring 0.25 to 0.5 inches (0.6 to 1.3 cm) wide.

In the Garden

'Deliverance' forms a compact mound 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its small size and narrow, twisted foliage make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with fine-textured ferns, sedges, or small woodland perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Deliverance' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
