Overview

Registered in 2011, 'Cemetery Road' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from a self-pollinated *H.* 'Swoosh' seedling (pod parent) crossed with *H.* 'Swoosh' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its ovate, green leaves with creamy white, slightly rippled margins, combined with dark lavender flowers and red scape tips.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its medium size suits it for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or shade-tolerant grasses complement its green-and-white foliage.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
