Overview
Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Lone Trail Gulch' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Outrageous'* and a *H. 'Swoosh'* F1 seedling. Its visual distinction lies in the leaf blade, which is green with flat margins that are streaked in greenish yellow, pale yellow, creamy white, and pure white, creating a variegated effect.
In the Garden
This hosta forms a fast-growing, mound-like clump reaching 41 inches (104.1 cm) in diameter and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. The wavy, ovate leaves with rounded bases provide textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slug and deer damage, no specific resistance has been reported for this cultivar.
