Overview
Registered in 1998 from unknown parentage, 'Incredible Hunk' is a giant blue-green hosta distinguished by its heavily rippled leaf margins and substantial dimensions. The cultivar produces cordate leaves reaching 16 inches in length and 14 inches in width, with a slightly shiny surface on both sides and 16 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This hosta forms an upright mound reaching 65 inches in height and 57 inches in diameter at maturity, making it suitable as a specimen plant or for the back of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture, and its large, textured leaves provide contrast when paired with finer-textured ferns or broad-leaved woodland plants. The 34- to 38-inch scapes bear flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain leaf turgor, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Incredible Hunk' may be susceptible to slug damage and should be monitored in damp conditions.
