Overview
Registered in 2001, *Hosta* 'Eggs Benedict' is a large, fast-growing cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Dorothy Benedict'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Incredible Hunk'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, deeply corrugated leaves that are dark green streaked with medium green, light green, yellow, pale yellow, greenish yellow, and creamy tones, edged with slightly rippled white margins.
In the Garden
Reaching 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter and 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height, this upright, fast-growing hosta is well suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its large size makes it an effective specimen or background plant in woodland gardens and mixed shade borders, where its variegated foliage provides season-long interest. Due to its substantial dimensions, it is not recommended for container culture.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad, corrugated leaves may be attractive to these pests.
