Overview

Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Principal's List' is a giant cultivar of unknown breeder, selected from a seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' (HB1). It is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green, heavily corrugated, nearly round leaves with unstable creamy white streaks along the margins, combined with a slow growth rate and upright habit.

In the Garden

'Principal's List' reaches a mature diameter of 38 inches (96.5 cm) and a height of 28 inches (71.1 cm), making it suitable as a bold specimen or focal point in partial to full shade. Its deeply corrugated, thick leaves provide strong textural contrast when paired with fine-textured ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Astilbe*. Due to its upright form, it works well in the middle to back of a shaded border.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. The thick leaf substance offers moderate slug resistance, though standard slug control measures are advisable in damp conditions. This cultivar performs reliably in typical hosta-growing zones.
