Overview

Registered in 2015 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Mouse Ears', 'Niki Mouse' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its starburst golden yellow center surrounded by blue-green margins. The leaves are lightly cupped and slightly wavy, with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

'Niki Mouse' forms a compact mound 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) tall and 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the golden center remains bright without scorching. Its miniature size makes it well suited for troughs, containers, or the front of a shaded border, where it can be paired with other small hostas or fine-textured shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Niki Mouse' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
