Overview

Registered in 2015 by E. Schulz, *Hosta* 'Enchanted Mist' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its nearly round, blue-green leaves with white margins and a glaucous bloom on the undersides. The leaf blades measure 2.8 inches (7.1 cm) long and 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, with six vein pairs, and the white margins vary from 0 to 0.5 inches (0.0 to 1.3 cm) wide, edged by medium green, flat borders. The pod parent was a streaked Hackbarth seedling; the pollen parent is unknown.

In the Garden

This slow-growing, mound-forming hosta reaches 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage and white margins remain most distinct. Its compact size and unique leaf shape also suit container cultivation. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or other miniature hostas.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
