Overview
Registered in 2012 by M. Shadrack, *Hosta* 'Pandora's Stripe' is a miniature sport of *Hosta* 'Pandora's Box'. Its distinguishing feature is a very narrow central stripe of creamy white set within blue-green leaf margins, creating a reverse-variegated pattern on a compact mound.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a low, mound-like clump reaching 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and is well-suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its miniature size makes it an excellent choice for container cultivation, where the subtle variegation can be appreciated at close range. Companion plants should be similarly small-scale, such as miniature ferns or small-leaved woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
