Overview
Registered in 2013, 'Glass Slipper' is a miniature hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its narrow, lance-shaped leaves that combine a very dark green margin, a medium green inner edge, and a pure white center, with the white coloration extending down the middle of the petiole to the base.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for typical hosta-growing zones and performs best in partial to full shade; the white leaf centers are prone to scorch in direct sun. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for troughs, containers, or the front of a shaded border, where it pairs well with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or fine-textured groundcovers.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
