Overview
Registered in 2009 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Mouse Ears Supreme', 'Mighty Moe' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its small, nearly round, blue-green leaves with creamy white margins. The leaf blade is lightly cupped, with flat margins of medium blue-green measuring 0.3 to 0.5 cm wide, and the white margin provides strong contrast against the blue-green center.
In the Garden
'Mighty Moe' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature perennials. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in the garden setting.
