Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Little Willie' is a miniature cultivar of unknown parentage. It forms a dense, low mound of blue-green leaves with white margins, the leaf undersides bearing a glaucous bloom.

In the Garden

'Little Willie' reaches approximately 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter and 2.8 inches (7.1 cm) in height at maturity, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small perennials such as miniature ferns or *Heuchera* species. Its compact size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in containers. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slugs and deer may damage the foliage, the small, dense habit of 'Little Willie' can make it less conspicuous to browsing animals than larger hosta cultivars.
