Overview

Registered in 1994, 'Sara' is a medium-sized hosta derived from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Rippling Waves'. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves edged with deep gold, slightly rippled margins, and a glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature size of 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height, with a semi-upright habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland garden settings.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula. While generally low-maintenance, monitor for slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
