Overview

Registered in 2000, this small hosta cultivar is a cross between *H. 'Donahue Piecrust'* and *H. 'Akebono'*. It is visually distinctive for its medium blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, cordate leaf bases, and blackish scapes that transition to blue-green as they mature.

In the Garden

*Hosta 'Party Favor'* forms a mound 14 inches (35.6 cm) tall and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its small size and compact habit make it appropriate for container culture, rock gardens, or the front of a shaded border, where it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small hostas.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended, as with most hostas.
