Overview

Registered in 2000 by an unknown hybridizer, 'Kiwi Jordan' is a small hosta distinguished by its blue-green foliage with slightly rippled margins and a compact, mounding habit. The leaves are dull on both surfaces, with a rounded base and six pairs of veins, measuring 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) long by 2.75 inches (7.0 cm) wide.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a dense mound 11 inches (27.9 cm) tall and 25.6 inches (65.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green coloration holds well, and pairs effectively with fine-textured ferns, heucheras, or small grasses. Its small size also makes it appropriate for trough gardens or as an edging plant along pathways.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its small stature may make it less conspicuous to browsing animals.
