Overview
Registered in 2014 by M. Zilis, *Hosta* 'Light My Fire' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Fired Up' with *Hosta* 'Halcyon' parentage. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its ovate leaves that emerge with pure white centers bordered by intensely blue-green, slightly rippled margins, the white centers later developing misty speckling.
In the Garden
'Light My Fire' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of blue-green hostas, and its moderate substance makes it suitable for garden borders or containers. The blue-green margins and white centers provide strong contrast when paired with dark-leaved perennials or ferns.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from deer and monitor for slug damage, particularly on the lighter leaf centers.
