Overview
Registered in 2015 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Striptease', 'Burlesque' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its four-color leaf: a white center that grades through green into a blue-green margin. The leaf surface is dull above and below, ovate with a tapered base, and often twisted; the white center is substantially more extensive than in the parent.
In the Garden
'Burlesque' forms a mound-like clump 16 inches (40.6 cm) tall and 36 inches (91.4 cm) wide, with a medium to fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the variegation remains stable, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact habit and striking foliage make it suitable for border fronts or shaded containers.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
