Overview

Registered in 2016, 'Island Flourish' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with the pod parent *Hosta* 'Spartacus'. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves that display a notable apple-green color overall, combined with moderately wavy leaf margins and a glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

'Island Flourish' forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for most hostas, and its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. Companion plants include ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its moderate growth rate and upright habit allow it to integrate well without overwhelming neighboring plants.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Island Flourish' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
