Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Sum It Up' registered in 2011, 'How About That!' is a giant, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with white margins, white streaks, and mottled areas. The foliage is broadly oblong-ovate with cordate bases, slightly rippled margins, and a dull upper surface with glaucous bloom beneath, bearing 14 to 15 vein pairs.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 45 inches (114.3 cm) in diameter, 'How About That!' forms a slow-growing mound suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its substantial size and variegated foliage make it an effective specimen or accent plant in woodland gardens, mixed borders, or shade beds, where it can be paired with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials. The 36- to 40-inch (91.4 to 101.6 cm) scapes bear flowers typical of the *H. 'Sum and Substance'* type.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed.
