Overview

Registered in 2012, *Hosta* 'Cosmic Paint Shaker' is a giant-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Ma Breeder' and *H.* 'Cosmic Hippie'. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, deeply corrugated blue-green leaves with white margins that are streaked with yellow and white, and for its heavy glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms an upright clump reaching 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and its substantial corrugated foliage provides strong textural contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its giant size makes it suitable as a specimen or focal point in the middle to back of a shaded border.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves show moderate slug resistance, though standard slug control measures may still be warranted in damp conditions.
