Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Gold Vision' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Gold Regal' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Blue Vision' (pollen parent). This cultivar is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with golden yellow margins, which contrast with the glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides.

In the Garden

'Gold Vision' reaches a mature size of 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers and gold margins maintain their color without scorching. This medium-sized hosta works well in mixed shade borders or as a specimen plant, and pairs effectively with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Gold Vision' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
