Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Burnished Brass' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate leaves with green centers and golden yellow, slightly rippled margins, complemented by a slightly shiny underside and a long, thin curled tip.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
