Overview
Registered in 1988 by M. Soules, this giant blue-green hosta is a hybrid of *Hosta sieboldiana*. Its most distinctive feature is the wide blue-gray margin that frames each leaf, creating a strong contrast against the darker blue-green center.
In the Garden
'Hosta Fantastic' reaches a mature diameter of 52 inches (132.1 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), making it suitable for large borders or as a specimen plant in partial to full shade. The substantial leaves, measuring 12.5 inches (31.8 cm) long and 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) wide with 14 to 16 vein pairs, provide bold texture. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; take appropriate preventative measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
