Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Steve Moldovan' is a giant hybrid originating from a cross between *Hosta* 'Blue Vision' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Fantastic' (pollen parent). This cultivar is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green, heavily corrugated leaves that are nearly round with cordate bases, forming an upright, substantial clump.

'Steve Moldovan' achieves a mature width of 51 inches (129.5 cm) and height of 38 inches (96.5 cm), making it suitable as a specimen or focal point in partial to full shade. Its upright habit and large, cupped leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture. The plant's substantial size precludes container cultivation for most gardeners.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the large, corrugated leaves may be attractive to both pests in typical hosta-growing zones.
