Overview

Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Slammin' is a medium-sized sport derived from a seedling of *H.* 'Galaxy' crossed with (*H.* 'Fantastic' × *H.* 'Elatior'). This cultivar is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with white margins, heavily overlaid with yellow streaks and mottled areas of green and white, creating a variegated pattern that stabilizes in tissue culture.

In the Garden

'Hosta' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous leaf undersides and muted variegation are best appreciated. Suitable companions include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its medium size makes it appropriate for border middles or woodland garden settings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like many hostas with heavy variegation, 'Slammin' may be more susceptible to slug damage, and deer are known to browse hostas in typical growing zones.
