Overview

Registered in 1980 by Paul Aden, this medium-sized cultivar arose as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Gala'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with cream to chartreuse margins that transition through green-chartreuse tones, creating a variegated effect.

In the Garden

'Hosta 'Color Fantasy' reaches a mature spread of approximately 18 inches (45.7 cm) and a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), with leaves 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegation remains most stable, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
