Overview

Registered in 2013, *Hosta* 'Razzmatazz' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Color Fantasy'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Potomac Pride'* (pollen parent). Its most distinctive feature is the pronounced leaf movement—the foliage begins to wave with even slight air movement, accentuating the contrast between the blue-green center and the wide, creamy white margins.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 36 inches (91.4 cm) and height of 17 inches (43.2 cm), 'Razzmatazz' forms a dense, mound-like clump suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its medium growth rate and 45-inch (114.3 cm) green scapes make it an effective mid-border specimen, pairing well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials that complement its blue-green foliage. The leaves measure 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with 11 to 12 vein pairs, and are ovate with cordate bases, moderately wavy, and flat in form.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. While typical hosta slug resistance applies, the thick, glaucous leaf surface offers some natural deterrent; monitor for deer browsing in areas where they are prevalent.
