Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Anita' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Color Fantasy' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Potomac Pride' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its medium green, ovate leaves with creamy white margins and a slightly rippled, wavy texture, forming a compact, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

*Hosta* 'Anita' reaches a mature diameter of 36 inches (91.4 cm) and a height of 14 inches (35.6 cm), with a moderate growth rate. Its small stature and attractive variegated foliage make it suitable for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. It pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials, and its compact size also makes it a candidate for container cultivation. Scapes rise 30 to 36 inches (76.2 to 91.4 cm) above the foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
