Overview

Registered in 2003 by R. Livingston, this large blue-green hosta is a seedling of *Hosta* 'Ritz' with an unknown pollen parent. It is distinguished by its upright, stately habit and deeply corrugated, moderately cupped leaves with broadly ovate shape and cordate bases.

In the Garden

'Will of Fortune' reaches 26 inches (66.0 cm) in height and 46 inches (116.8 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. Its thick, corrugated foliage and upright form make it suitable for partial to full shade positions in typical hosta-growing zones, where it provides textural contrast alongside finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras. The plant’s substantial size and bold leaf surface also work well as a specimen or in mass plantings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slug and deer damage, the heavily corrugated leaves of this cultivar may offer some resistance to minor pest pressure.
