Overview

Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Alinghi' is a large cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H. 'Mountain Snow'* as its pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its heavily quilted, blue-green leaves that arch gracefully from the crown, bearing a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and exhibiting lightly wavy, gray-green margins.

In the Garden

*Alinghi* forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 31.5 inches (80.0 cm) in diameter and 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is best suited to partial to full shade, as typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous bloom is best preserved. The substantial leaf size and arching habit make it an effective specimen or accent plant in shaded borders and woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed preventatively.
