Overview

Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Wild World of Sportsman' is a small, fast-growing sport of *Hosta* 'Galaxy' (pod parent; pollen parent unknown). Its primary distinction lies in the unstable, variable streaking of yellow and creamy white across the leaf blade, set against a dark blue-green base and white margins.

In the Garden

Mature plants reach approximately 11 inches (28 cm) in diameter and 6 inches (15 cm) in height, with an upright, compact habit. This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and is well suited to small garden spaces, rock gardens, or container culture. Its moderate leaf substance and fast growth rate make it a reliable filler in shaded borders.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain leaf turgor; fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its leathery leaf texture provides moderate resistance.
