Overview
Registered in 2004 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Amber Tiara', 'Flame Tiara' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its three-color medio-variegated leaves. The foliage displays creamy white centers with streaks of varying yellow shades, bordered by greenish-yellow, heavily rippled margins, creating a distinctive "tiara" effect.
In the Garden
Reaching 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, 'Flame Tiara' forms a compact, moderate-growing mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging. Its small stature and striking variegation make it an excellent choice for container culture, where the deeply wavy leaf margins and three-color pattern are easily appreciated. It pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant groundcovers in typical hosta-growing zones.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Flame Tiara' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its small size may make it easier to protect with barriers or repellents.
