Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Summer Music' registered in 1999, 'Summer Breeze' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with wide, golden yellow margins. The leaf blades are cordate at the base, dull on the upper surface, and slightly shiny beneath, with 10 to 12 pairs of veins and slightly rippled edges.

In the Garden

'Summer Breeze' forms a mound-like clump reaching 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 50 inches (127 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its gold-margined foliage pairs well with blue-leaved hostas or fine-textured ferns. The green scapes, 20 to 36 inches (50.8 to 91.4 cm) tall, bear lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for typical hosta-growing zones.
