Overview

Registered in 1999 by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Bridgeville' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with heavily rippled, light greenish-yellow margins and a very shiny underside.

In the Garden

This upright, moderate-growing hosta reaches approximately 27 inches (69 cm) in diameter and 13 inches (33 cm) in height, with scapes extending 37 to 40 inches (94 to 102 cm) tall. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slugs and deer, 'Bridgeville' shows no exceptional resistance; standard protective measures may be necessary in areas with high pest pressure.
