Overview

Registered in 1987 by Walters Gardens, Inc., 'Platinum Tiara' is a sport of the popular *Hosta* 'Golden Tiara'. This small cultivar is visually defined by its green leaves edged with creamy white to yellow-green margins, a color pattern inherited and refined from its parent.

In the Garden

'Platinum Tiara' reaches a mature size of 16 inches (40.6 cm) in both height and diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging along pathways. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated foliage remains crisp and well-defined. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other small hostas. Its compact habit also makes it an excellent choice for container plantings.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Platinum Tiara' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
