Overview

Registered in 1986 by P. Aden, *Hosta* 'Gaiety' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown pod parentage, with *H.* 'Blessings' as the pollen parent. Its leaves are green with white margins, the margins described in registration as yellow-green white, and the plant forms a compact, dense mound.

In the Garden

Reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter at maturity, 'Gaiety' is suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its small stature makes it an excellent choice for troughs or small pots.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Gaiety' may be damaged by slugs and deer in typical hosta-growing zones.
