Overview

Registered in 1977 by R. Savory, this small-sized cultivar arose as a hybrid of *Hosta nakaiana*. It is visually distinctive for its compact mound of green leaves with chartreuse to white margins, producing scapes up to 22 inches (55.9 cm) tall.

In the Garden

Reaching approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, 'Golden Tiara' forms a dense, low clump suitable for the front of borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container plantings.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry spells, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
