Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Island Charm' registered in 1998, 'Pink Panther' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with white margins and white-streaked green variegation. The leaf blades are dull on the upper surface and slightly shiny beneath, with slightly rippled margins and rounded bases.

In the Garden

'Pink Panther' reaches a mature diameter of 18 inches (45.7 cm) and a height of 7 inches (17.8 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its compact size makes it suitable for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, and shade-tolerant groundcovers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Pink Panther' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
