Overview
Registered in 1998 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Stiletto', 'Boogie Woogie' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its narrow, heavily rippled leaves with medium green centers and creamy white margins. The foliage is dull on both surfaces, with leaves reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in length and 1 inch (2.5 cm) in width, featuring two to three vein pairs and a tapered base.
In the Garden
'Boogie Woogie' forms a compact mound 6 inches (15.2 cm) tall and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for hostas, and is well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its small stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants may include small ferns, heucheras, or miniature sedges that complement its fine texture.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
