Overview

Registered in 1976 by Paul Aden, *Hosta* 'Peek-A-Boo' is a small blue-green cultivar derived from *H. 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa'* (pod parent, pollen parent unknown). The leaves are distinguished by prominent blue undulations along the margins, which contrast with the broader blue-green blade surface.

In the Garden

This small hosta reaches 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 14.5 inches (36.8 cm) in diameter at maturity, with leaves 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide bearing 12 pairs of veins. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved cultivars, where the leaf color remains truest. Its compact size makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, paired with small ferns or woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, avoiding overhead watering to reduce foliar disease. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed.
