Overview
Registered in 1976 by P. Aden, this small blue-green hosta originated as a seedling of *Hosta* 'Blue Cadet' with an unknown pollen parent. 'Blue Heaven' is distinguished by its narrow, lance-shaped leaves with blue margins and prominent veining, reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in length and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in width.
In the Garden
'Blue Heaven' forms a compact mound 8 inches (20.3 cm) tall and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue leaf coloration is most pronounced, and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant groundcovers. The 18-inch (45.7 cm) scapes bear pale lavender flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Blue Heaven' shows typical hosta resistance to deer but may require slug management in damp conditions.
