Overview

Registered in 1996 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Regal', 'Misty Regal' is a large cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaf centers bordered by wide, dark green, heavily rippled margins. The leaf surface bears a glaucous bloom on both sides, and the margins are described as yellow gold with a 2-inch-wide dark green band.

In the Garden

'Misty Regal' reaches a mature spread of approximately 41 inches (104 cm) and a height of 21 inches (53 cm), with a semi-upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and can be used as a specimen or in mixed shade borders. Its substantial leaf size and contrasting margins make it suitable for mid-border placement alongside ferns, astilbes, or other shade perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Misty Regal' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
