My Child Insook

Hosta "My Child Insook" review

Sold for $4,100 at the 1998 AHS auction. This hard to find Herb Benedict introduction (sport of Hosta 'Outrageous' ) holds the record for the highest price ever paid for a hosta...$4,100! The 30" wide clump boasts long shiny boat-shaped green leaves, highlighted by a wide and picturesque creamy white center. The clumps are topped with 40" flower spikes of light lavender flowers in July. This is the plant by which all hosta envy is measured. A very large sport of ‘Outrageous’. Rare in the trade. Holds the record for the highest price ever paid for a hosta--$4,100 at a 1998 hosta convention! Shiny, ivory white leaves with a dark green edge and chartreuse jetting towards the midrib are of good substance. Pale lavender flowers are produced atop tall scapes in mid to late summer. Best in light to moderate shade. Outstanding specimen plant! Deserves to be more widely grown.
