Overview
Registered in 1995 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Outrageous', 'My Child Insook' is a large cultivar distinguished by its broad, pure white leaf centers framed by dark green margins. The leaves measure 10 inches (25.4 cm) long by 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with 11 pairs of veins and a cordate base, presenting a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
This hosta forms a semi-upright clump reaching 28 inches (71.1 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as the white leaf centers are prone to scorch in direct sun. The light green scapes rise 36 to 44 inches (91.4 to 111.8 cm) above the foliage. Its large size and bold variegation make it suitable as a specimen or accent in shaded borders, and it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in typical hosta-growing zones.
