Overview

Registered in 1994 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Love Pat', 'Love Burst' is a large cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad gold margins. The leaf blade measures 8 inches (20.3 cm) in both length and width, with 13 pairs of veins and a cordate base; the gold center is 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, bordered by a dark blue-green margin.

In the Garden

'Love Burst' forms a semi-upright clump 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the gold center remains bright without scorching. The substantial leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade perennials that contrast in texture or color.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge.
