Overview
Registered in 1995, *Hosta* 'Lover's Leap' is a large, mound-forming cultivar derived from a cross between *H. 'Dorothy Benedict'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Nooner'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its broad, blue-green leaves with creamy white margins and a glaucous bloom on the upper surface.
In the Garden
'Lover's Leap' reaches a mature height of 24 inches (61.0 cm) and a spread of 20 inches (50.8 cm), forming a slow-growing, dense mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage and white margins remain most pronounced, and is suitable for typical hosta-growing zones. Its substantial leaves and upright scapes make it an effective specimen or accent plant in shaded borders, woodland gardens, or mixed perennial beds.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick leaves offer moderate resistance to slugs, though standard slug control measures may still be warranted in damp conditions.
