Overview
Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Robert Frost', 'Me and My Shadow' is a large-sized cultivar distinguished by its unusual leaf coloration: a light green leaf center framed by a medium blue-green margin. The leaves are nearly round with cordate bases, measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with 10 to 12 vein pairs and a slightly rippled, lightly corrugated texture. The margin is approximately 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) wide and slightly rippled; leaf surfaces are slightly shiny above and dull beneath.
In the Garden
'Me and My Shadow' forms a dense clump reaching 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, which require shade to maintain their glaucous coloration. The substantial size and bold leaf pattern make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders, where it pairs well with ferns and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and take protective measures if necessary.
