Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Klaus von Klitzing' is a large, fast-growing cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad, dark green, flat margins, creating a notably crisp variegation that is considered very special among hosta collectors.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a substantial, mound-like clump reaching approximately 40 inches (100 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (60 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its large, corrugated leaves provide strong textural contrast when paired with finer-textured perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The tall scapes, reaching 43 to 51 inches (110–130 cm), bear light green flowers that rise well above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer weather, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or repellents.
