Overview

Registered in 1988 by W. & E. Lachman, this large cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Banana Sundae' and *Hosta* 'Frances Williams'. It is visually distinctive for its heavy-textured, blue-green leaves with wide margins that mature from creamy yellow to near white, providing strong contrast throughout the growing season.

In the Garden

'Robert Frost' reaches a mature diameter of 42 inches (107 cm) and a height of 23 inches (58 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, rounded leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its cool blue-green foliage and bright margins.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; regular monitoring and appropriate barriers may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
