Overview
Registered in 2002, *Hosta* 'Lasting Impressions' is a large, fast-growing cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'First Impressions' (pod parent) and *H. hypoleuca* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its heavily variegated foliage, which displays unstable streaks of dark green, blue-green, greenish-yellow, yellow, and creamy white against a medium green leaf with white margins.
In the Garden
'Lasting Impressions' forms an upright clump reaching 32 inches (81.3 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in partial to full shade. Its tall scapes, reaching 43 to 47 inches (109.2 to 119.4 cm), bear glaucous green stems with creamy white streaks. This cultivar pairs well with ferns and other shade perennials in typical hosta-growing zones.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage in susceptible areas.
